It is the worker bees that determine during springtime whether the old queen should leave and be replaced by a younger, stronger leader.

What do drones eat? During the first days of their lives, drones are entirely fed by young worker bees, while later on, they start feeding themselves on stored honey and pollen.

The populous hive! A single hive can contain up to 50,000 bees!

The role of drones is small, yet crucial! In a hive, there are a few hundreds of drones, with a life cycle of 20-30 days. When they fly outside the hive, they use to gather in specific areas, called drone congregation areas, where they wait for the queen to mate with her.

The traveling pollen collectors! Pollen-collecting worker bees make up to 10 trips per day, carrying pollen and nectar back to the hive. The bees then transform this nectar into the delicious honey we enjoy.

The short but important life of the worker bee! Worker bees live on average 15-40 days in the summer, 30- 60 days during springtime and autumn and up to 140 days during the winter.

Blind communication! The queen emits certain substances, called pheromones, which serve as commands for worker bees, guiding them in the tasks they need to perform.

How does the queen lays eggs! When the queen lays her eggs, she first positions her head over each cell (possibly inspecting it) and if the cell is empty, she then inserts her abdomen and deposits an egg.

What Do Bees Teach Us

THE HONEY HEROES!

Respect and Care – Worker bees respect, protect, look after and care for their queen until the very last day of their lives.

Self-sacrifice for others – Every bee will use its sting to defend itself or its hive.

Organization – Every bee, among the 50,000 members of a single hive, has a specific mission and plan.

Collaboration – Bees work together to build honeycombs, care for the eggs and clean and protect the hive as a strong team.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[54

0":"post-3337","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-everything-about-the-bee
["GET
