GREEK BEEKEEPING

It has been proven that the Greeks have been involved in beekeeping since ancient times (Crete, Attica, Kea, etc.). This ritualistic tradition has been preserved ever since and now there are about 22,000 beekeepers, who manage approximately 2,257,994 hives, distributed all over Greece.
Density of hives deployment in Greece is one of the highest in the world. However, production per cell is comparatively low, due to our soil and climate conditions. These conditions force beekeepers to practice tedious nomadic beekeeping, but then reward them with the one-of-a-kind Greek honey and other beekeeping products, which are of incomparable quality.
